Norton Internet Security set up for Bourse application

Note: Modifying your firewall in ways other than specified here may leave your computer vulnerable to attacks.

Older versions of Norton Internet Security may not look exactly like these screenshots.

  1. Look for the "Globe" icon in system tray (at the bottom right hand of the screen)

  2. Right-click on the Norton Globe icon
    Click "Norton Internet Security"

  3. Select "Personal Firewall"

  4. Click the "Configure" button

  5. Click Programs tab

  6. Click the Add button

  7. You'd get the "Select a program" window (as below)

  8. Click the drop down arrow in the "Look in" box to search for the Bourse application file

  9. Select "bda6" from the directory of C:\BourseData\TheBourse6
    Click the Open button

  10. You'd get the below screen

  11. Select "Manually configure Internet access" under "What do you want to do?"
    Click the OK button

  12. Select "Permit"
    Click Next

  13. Select "Connections to and from other computers"
    Click Next

  14. Select "Any Computer"
    Click Next

  15. Select "TCP" and "Only the types of communication or ports listed below"
    Click Add button

  16. Select "Individually specified ports" and "Remote"
    Enter 8372 in the box as shown
    Click OK button

  17. Click the Add button

  18. Select "Individually specified ports" and "Local"
    Enter "8372" in the box as shown
    Click OK

  19. Click Next

  20. "Create an event log entry" and "Notify me with a Security Alert" are optional.
    You don't have to check them.
    Click Next

  21. Select General
    Click Next

  22. Click Next

  23. Your Rule should now follow the criteria in this image. If this is correct, click Finish, or click Back to modify your preferences.

  24. Click the OK button
